My good friend Caprice Crane’s new book, With a Little Luck, is out today. Yay, Caprice!
It’s gotten great reviews:
“Crane is one of the funniest writers of popular fiction around. The dialog (inner and outer) is laugh-out-loud, snort-inducing hilarious . . . Readers will want to cross their fingers and spit while throwing salt over their shoulders if it helps Berry reach her dreams. Highly recommended.”
—Library Journal
“Fans of Stacy Ballis and Cara Lockwood will appreciate Crane’s effortlessly funny style, which is often attempted in popular fiction but is rarely this well executed…Lighthearted and charmingly honest.”
—Booklist
“[A] satisfying romantic comedy…[with] real character growth.”
—Kirkus Reviews
And even better blurbs:
“Romantic, poignant and funny—this book is a lucky find for lit fans. Caprice Crane is a nimble and gifted storyteller.”
—Diablo Cody, Academy Award-winning screenwriter of Juno
“A hilarious romp that oozes charm and giddy fun. Caprice Crane is a true talent.”
—Molly Jong-Fast, author of The Social Climber’s Handbook
“Witty, fast-paced, and sheer fun. Caprice Crane is a master of dialogue. Half the time I was reading this book I was smiling, which made me look like a crazy person on the subway.”
—Jancee Dunn, author of Don’t You Forget About Me and Why Is My Mother Getting a Tattoo?
“Absolutely charming and hilarious.”
—Missy Peregrym, star of the movie Stick It and ABC’s Rookie Blue
“With a Little Luck scores in humor, head, and heart. In other words, it’s a perfect trifecta.”
—Karyn Bosnak, author of 20 Times a Lady (soon to be the major motion picture What’s Your Number?)
(Omg, who is that last fantastic blurber?) (I meant every word of it.)
And most importantly, she has the cutest dog ever (who likes to video chat with Bev):

Anyway, check it out, buy it—it’s fantastic!

‘She is frail, and she doesn’t eat when she should,’ John says of Gaga in new interview with The Guardian.
By John Mitchell
<P><a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/john_elton/artist.jhtml">Elton John</a> is concerned about his friend <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/lady_gaga/artist.jhtml">Lady Gaga</a>'s health, telling <a href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2012/jun/01/elton-john-interview-fatherhood-pnau?INTCMP=SRCH" target="_blank"><i>The Guardian</i></a> that Mother Monster's hectic touring and work schedule leave her "frail" and undernourished.</P><P>Perhaps more disconcerting is that John said Gaga's parents, to whom she is famously quite close, worry about her welfare as well. "I look at Gaga, and I think, 'How does she do it?' I talk to her mum and dad about it. They worry," he said.</P><P>"She is frail, and she doesn't eat when she should do, and she's a girl, and it's tougher for a girl. She works really hard," John continued. "She will be in Denmark one night and Saudi Arabia the next. I know how tiny she is, and I do worry about her, yes."</P><P>Gaga and John are so close that the music legend chose the "Born This Way" singer to be the <a href="/news/articles/1662501/lady-gaga-godmother-elton-john.jhtml">godmother</a> of his one-year-old son, Zachary. The pair have collaborated artistically multiple times, including a medley performance of their hits at the 2010 Grammys and on the duet "Hello Hello" for the animated 2011 film "Gnomeo & Juliet." Gaga has said that the two <a href="/news/articles/1674731/lady-gaga-elton-john-duet.jhtml">will duet again</a> for her <a href="/news/articles/1686196/lady-gaga-new-album.jhtml">next album</a>, which she is reportedly working on concurrently with her "Born This Way Ball" Tour.</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Lady Gaga Has The Title And Concept For Her Next Album" id="vid: 717202" width="415" height="255"></div><p></P><P>"My next duet, I believe, will be with Elton," Gaga told British talk-show host Alan Carr late last year. "I'm already working on my next album, and I played him a song that I wrote, and he really loved it. I don't want to give anything [else] away!"</P><P>John's concerns for Gaga's health are not without precedent. In January 2010, the pop star was forced to <a href="http://newsroom.mtv.com/2010/01/15/lady-gaga-cancels-shows/">cancel a concert in West Lafayette, Indiana</a>, when she experienced shortness of breath and a rapid heartbeat backstage immediately before the performance was set to begin. After that frightening incident, Gaga canceled dates in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and Wallingford, Connecticut, based on doctor's recommendations that she take time to recover from exhaustion.</P><P>Just two months later, Gaga appeared on the verge of collapse by the conclusion of a <a href="http://www.popeater.com/2010/03/16/lady-gaga-collapses/" target="_blank">"Monster Ball" show in Auckland, New Zealand</a>. Video from the performance shows Gaga sitting and even lying down during the final song of the evening, "Bad Romance."</P><P><a href="http://www.mtv.com/photos/?fid=1617615"><img src="http://www.mtv.com/news/photos/s/spotted/banner/spotted.jpg"></a></p>

Bieber’s latest sold more than 374,000 copies in its first week, edging Madonna’s MDNA to claim the title of year’s biggest bow.
By James Montgomery
<P>Most <a href="/news/articles/1687988/justin-bieber-believe-album-sales.jhtml">predicted it</a>, and now it's official: <b>Justin Bieber</b>'s <i>Believe</i> scored the year's biggest chart debut, selling more than 374,000 copies and blasting the competition on the <i>Billboard</i> Top 200.</P><P><i>Believe</i> — Bieber's fourth album to debut at #1 — slightly edged Madonna's <i>MDNA,</i> which sold 359,000 copies when it was released in late March, to claim the title of year's biggest bow, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It's also the best first-week number <i>any</i> album has posted since Adele's <i>21</i> rode a <a href="/news/articles/1679279/adele-grammy-awards-2012.jhtml">post-Grammy surge</a> to sales of more than 729,000 copies in February.</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="'Bieber Live'" id="id:1687833" width="415" height="255"></div><p></P><P>Bieber's album also sold nearly twice the copies as its closest competition, <b>Kenny Chesney</b>'s <i>Welcome to the Fishbowl,</i> which opens at #2 on the chart with an impressive 193,000 copies in its first week of release. Usually that number is <i>more</i> than enough to take #1, but not this week. <b>Fiona Apple</b>'s first album in seven years, <a href="/news/articles/1686557/fiona-apple-idler-wheel-btts.jhtml"><i>The Idler Wheel,</i></a> debuts at #3, selling nearly 72,000 copies, followed by another returning alt icon, the <b>Smashing Pumpkins</b>, who sold more than 53,000 copies of their <a href="/news/articles/1687831/smashing-pumpkins-oceania-billy-corgan.jhtml"><i>Oceania</i></a> to take #4. The "Rock of Ages" soundtrack rounds out the top five, selling nearly 49,000 copies.</P><P><a href="/news/articles/1687847/usher-billboard-looking-4-myself.jhtml">Usher, last week's chart champ</a> (and Bieber's mentor), is in at #6 with his <i>Looking 4 Myself</i> album, which sold 48,000 copies in its second week. <b>Adele</b>'s aforementioned <i>21</i> lands at #7 (more than 47,000 copies sold), followed by <b>One Direction</b>'s <i>Up All Night</i> (more than 41,000 sold) and <b>Luke Bryan</b>'s <i>Tailgates & Tanlines</i> (nearly 28,000 sold). <b>Rush</b>'s <i>Clockwork Angels</i> closes out the top 10, selling nearly 27,000 copies.</P><P>Other debuts on the chart include the <b>Dirty Heads</b>' <i>Cabin by the Sea,</i> which opens at #18 with sales of nearly 18,000 copies, "Once" star <b>Glen Hansard</b>'s <i>Rhythm and Repose</i> (#21, more than 16,000 copies sold) and the soundtrack to Pixar's "Brave," which bows at #33, with sales of nearly 12,000 copies.</P><P>And while the story of this week's <i>Billboard</i> chart is unquestionably Bieber, next week could be a different story. He'll face challenges from both <b>Linkin Park</b>'s <a href="/news/articles/1688422/linkin-park-living-things.jhtml"><i>LIVING THINGS</i></a> and <b>Maroon 5</b>'s <a href="/news/articles/1688438/maroon-5-overexposed.jhtml"><i>Overexposed,</i></a> both of which could make his reign a short-lived one. Can Bieber make it two weeks in a row atop the charts? We'll just have to wait and see.</p>

It is Soap Dish time again my friends! After a week of fun in the sun I am back to dish with you about the 2012 Daytime Emmy Awards, woohoo! As I am sure you are all aware by now The 39th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards were held over the weekend. The show was thankfully televised by HLN so that fans like myself could see who took home the Emmy. I will have the full list of winners for you but first lets talk about the show. I thought it was good, not great but better than it has been the last couple of years. I feel like soap operas were honored properly unlike years in the recent past where I felt the did not get the recognition they deserve. That being said I was thrilled that General Hospital led the pack with wins that night, including best show which in my eyes it is. Everyone of course who was nominated was amazing and all the winners were deserving but I need to give a shout out about how freaking thrilled I was that Nancy Lee Grahn won. MTV News has the scoop on Bieber’s next single, fall tour and Mark Wahlberg movie.
By Jocelyn Vena

Justin Bieber
Photo:
Now that Justin Bieber has dropped Believe, you might be wondering what’s up next for the 18-year-old. Well, between supporting his album and a burgeoning film career, the pop star shows no signs of stopping.
Bieber is still in the deciding process of nailing down just which track off Believe will be the next single, following up his smash hit “Boyfriend.” And when MTV News spoke to Bieber’s manager, Scooter Braun, he noted that there are several candidates from the album that seem like a likely follow-up release.
“We haven’t picked the next single,” he said. “We’re gonna see how different songs react off the album. ‘As Long As You Love Me’ [with Big Sean] is getting a lot of love, so is ‘All Around The World’ [with Ludacris]. So is ‘Die In Your Arms.’ ‘Beauty and the Beat’ is coming with the album. We’re gonna see what the next single is. We’re gonna figure that out.”
The guys are also in the process of figuring out how the massive, already sold-out world tour will look when it kicks off in September. “The tour starts at the end of September … by the end of 2013 we’re gonna hit the whole world,” he explained. “He has been watching a tremendous amount of Michael Jackson concerts from the ’80s and ’90s. And he has been talking to me about how Michael incorporated magic and pyro and reveals and he wants to bring in that. [But] still do that acoustic thing, but he wants to take it to a whole new level.
“It’s just really exciting,” he continued. “Nothing makes him happier than being onstage. So it’s gonna be fun to get back onto the road. I think he was an amazing performer before, but his level of dance and musicianship and his range [has grown]. He’s a veteran now. I think he wants to take it to a completely new level.”
Not only will Bieber stay busy in the music world, but Mark Wahlberg notes that things are also chugging along with their long-teased, in-the-works basketball movie. The actor insists they are inching closer to a start date. And, Wahlberg is co-signing Bieber’s acting abilities.
“Obviously, [Bieber] is a very good athlete. People have seen him on MTV; he can play. But I also really think he can act,” he said. “There’s not going to be any shortage of pushing him in getting that kind of strong performance out of him, if we get to make the movie. We’re just going to have to make him realize that he’s playing a character so he can’t have the same hairdo,” he joked.

Lovato shuts down rumors that she and Horan are dating in a recent radio interview.
By Jocelyn Vena

Demi Lovato
Photo:
So, are they or aren’t they? Well, according to Demi Lovato herself, she and One Direction‘s Niall Horan aren’t dating.
While he called her a “cool girl” in a recent interview and there’s even been suggestion that they’ve Skyped with each other — the mark of any true romance — the singer herself, in a new radio interview, says he’s nothing more than a pal.
“I don’t even know who One Direction is … it’s so crazy. I’m kidding,” she told B104 Radio. “No, Niall’s a friend of mine. I do know who he is and everyone knows who One Direction is.”
While they are just friends, she does note that his “cool” feelings for her are reciprocated. “But, yeah, we’re just friends,” she said. “And he’s awesome.”
Regardless of where Demi and Niall stand in the romance department, Niall’s bandmates hinted he might want to be more than friends in a recent appearance on the Canadian entertainment news show “etalk.” In a game called “Rapid Fire Romance,” a photo of a female celebrity would show up, and the guys had to pick which of their bandmates would be the best match. When Demi’s photo came up in the pile, Horan’s bandmate, Louis Tomlinson, joked, “Niall. 100 percent.”
From there, Harry Styles, had a bit more fun at Horan’s expense, further joking, “Niall dreams dirty things!”
Since the guys dropped their chart-topping debut, Up All Night, there have been a number of romance rumors about them floating around. Most notably, Harry Styles had been famously linked to Taylor Swift for some time. When MTV News chatted with the guys earlier this year about all the love they have been receiving from the pop world’s biggest princesses, they admitted they didn’t mind all the attention.
“[It's] really exciting, I suppose,” Liam Payne said back in April shortly after they performed at the Kids’ Choice Awards. “And even following Katy Perry on the stage as well was a big thing for us. It’s just amazing to be in the same room as these sort of people, for us to just come over from England and just be involved.”

When the tour came to New York City this week, MTV News went behind the scenes to talk with the creative forces and performers to find out.</P><P>The artists (all 65 of them) had limited time to train and learn choreography — an especially difficult feat when it's honoring MJ's signature moves. It was a kind of pressure that creative director Tara Young certainly learned to channel into a positive force.</P><P><CENTER><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:755805/cp~vid%3D755805%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Amtv.com%3A755805" width="430" height="242" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="."></embed></CENTER></P><P>"I think it is a pressure for sure; something I share with the whole building here is that we have nothing to prove, only to share," Young told MTV News. "We have an opportunity to share what Michael would have wanted to share and the pressure is only there to achieve excellence."</P><P>For Felix Cane, a two-time world champion pole dancer who does a captivating performance to "Danger," it was all about using that pressure to help the audience to remember the pop icon. "You are sharing this passion with them, and this love of MJ. There's times in the show when some people and I, myself, might have shed a few tears."</P><P>That pressure never felt as great as when the Jackson family sat in the front row at a show in Montreal, an experience Young described as "inspiring." When asked what MJ would think if he were sitting there with them, Young smiled, "He would feel such a sense of pride of what he has given us to work with. It evokes emotions in people that they didn't even know were going to come out."</P><P>I think everyone feels inspired, which evokes a certain feeling of change," Young added. "You feel a sadness too because he is not with us anymore, and that is an emotion that is wonderful too actually … just to honor him."</P><P>The tour will continue in North America through the summer, before heading to Europe this fall.</P><P><i>Have you seen Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour?
